Halal, by hand. Always.
Our beef and our chicken are both hand-slaughtered (dhabihah) and certified by the Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) — the strictest halal certifier in Canada. Everything else in the building is strictly pork-free and alcohol-free. Nothing we serve is an exception.
Hand-slaughtered · Pork-free · Alcohol-free
The short version
We get this question a lot, and we're glad you asked. Here it is plainly — and you can see the proof further down.
Beef and chicken — every item, every day. No separate menu, no exceptions.
Dhabihah by hand, with the Tasmiyah recited. Never machine-slaughtered.
Our suppliers are certified by the Halal Monitoring Authority, with inspectors on site.
No pork or pork derivatives anywhere. Every product we bring in is checked.
No alcohol or alcohol-based ingredients in anything we serve.
We only cook halal. There is no non-halal meat in the building.

Our beef
Our beef comes from St. Helen's Meat Packers in Toronto — a federally inspected, family-run packer that has supplied halal meat for decades. Their HMA certificate confirms the part that matters most: every halal product is slaughtered (dhabihah) by hand, with HMA inspectors physically present to supervise the process — not a paperwork sign-off after the fact.

Our chicken
Our chicken comes from HMA-certified Canadian poultry suppliers — including Sargent Farms and Maple Leaf's Mina (“Zabeeha by Hand”) halal program — depending on supply. What never changes is the standard: every bird is hand-slaughtered and HMA-certified.
This is the real difference in chicken. Most of the poultry industry uses high-speed machine slaughter — HMA does not accept that for halal. HMA-certified chicken is cut by hand, with the Tasmiyah recited, the way dhabihah is meant to be done.
It's not just the meat
Halal isn't only about how the meat is slaughtered — it's about everything that goes into your food. So we hold the whole menu to the same standard.
Both our beef and our chicken are slaughtered by hand (dhabihah) and certified by the Halal Monitoring Authority — the strictest halal certifier in Canada.
No pork, no pork derivatives, no exceptions. We read the ingredients on everything we buy — sauces, buns, oils — rather than assume.
No alcohol or alcohol-based ingredients in any item. If a product doesn't meet the standard, it doesn't come through our door.
The authority we trust
“We certify
what we see.”
The Halal Monitoring Authority (HMA) is widely regarded as the strictest, most hands-on halal certifier in Canada. It was established in 2004 by the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians, and it works on one simple principle.
That means HMA doesn't just review paperwork. Their inspectors are physically present through the process — from slaughter to packaging — supervising that it's done by hand and done right. They reject high-speed machine slaughter for poultry outright, because each bird can't be properly blessed and cut by hand on a fast mechanical line.
When you see the HMA logo on a product, it means that specific product was monitored and certified by HMA. That's the standard we hold our suppliers to.

We keep our suppliers' current HMA certificates on file. Here they are.

Hand-slaughtered (dhabihah by hand). Our suppliers are HMA-certified specifically because they slaughter by hand — HMA does not certify high-speed machine slaughter for poultry.
